Friend of Maidenhead Rowing ClubWe are aware that a number of people move on and away from the club, but would like to be kept informed about the club's activities. For them, if Associate Membership does not seem appropriate, we offer the opportunity to become a Friend of Maidenhead Rowing Club. Friends of MRC will be kept up to date via Newsletters and/or email as well as being invited to selected social events. How to JoinThe club runs courses for adults who have not rowed before. There are courses during the Summer months when the river is settled which are currently running on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8.30 pm. The course lasts eight weeks and aims to reach the Rowing Association Watermanship level award at the end of the course. There are a range of boats to include sculls, tub pair, doubles, a quad and a four to be used during the course. Both rowing and sculling will be taught. The course fee is £50 and we would also expect the course member to join the rowing club on a temporary basis for two months which is a further £50. During this time access is available to the weights room, ergo room, bar and social facilities in the same as any other member but use of the boats is limited to those times when supervision is available. On successful completion of the watermanship award, access is available to boats for general use at agreed times outside the times when the racing crews are doing timed distances on the main straight (Racing crews typically are on the water from 7.30 am to 10.00 am at weekends). Course members will also be encouraged to continue as recreational members or join the mens, womens or veteran squads which regularly race at events through the year.
